Execution steps
- 01Launch the full-screen color banding gradient test.
- 02Select between Grayscale, Red, Green, Blue, RGB, and Rainbow gradient bars.
- 03Inspect the gradient transitions from pure black to maximum intensity.
- 04Smooth continuous color blends indicate good bit depth; harsh visible vertical lines indicate color banding.
Diagnostic symptoms
- Step-like vertical bars (banding) caused by 6-bit + FRC panels or improper GPU color output format.
- Abrupt harsh transitions in dark shadows.
