Execution steps

  1. 01Launch the full-screen Contrast Test.
  2. 02Inspect the Dark Level section: You should be able to distinguish square block #1, #2, and #3 from the true black (#000000) background.
  3. 03Inspect the White Level section: You should be able to distinguish square block #252, #253, and #254 from pure white (#FFFFFF).
  4. 04Adjust monitor OSD Brightness and Contrast until shadow blocks are visible without crushing black.

Diagnostic symptoms

  • Crushed Black: Dark blocks 1-5 blending into background black.
  • Clipped White: Highlight blocks 250-254 blending into white background.

Black Level Shadow Detail Blocks

You should be able to distinguish square block #1 and #2 from the pure black background.
