Execution steps

  1. 01Click "Launch Fullscreen" or press "F" to start the dead pixel test.
  2. 02Use the Left/Right arrow keys or Spacebar to cycle through Red, Green, Blue, White, Black, and Gray screens.
  3. 03Inspect the display closely. A dead pixel will remain completely black on all colored backgrounds.
  4. 04Toggle the Magnifying Glass Loupe (press "Z") to zoom into suspicious pixels and inspect subpixel structures.

Diagnostic symptoms

  • Dead Pixel: Permanently black dot on red, green, blue, and white screens.
  • Stuck Pixel: Fixed color dot (red, green, or blue) that does not change on different backgrounds.

What is the difference between a dead pixel and a stuck pixel?

A dead pixel is permanently off (transistor issue), appearing as a black dot on all backgrounds. A stuck pixel is stuck in an ON state for one subpixel (Red, Green, or Blue) and shows up as a bright colored dot.

Can a dead pixel fix itself?

Dead pixels (completely black) are rarely fixable because the transistor driving them has physically failed. However, stuck pixels can often be revived using our Stuck Pixel Repair tool.
